General Description

  • 4-Epitetracycline hydrochloride is a metabolite derived from the degradation of tetracycline compounds and has been shown to display antibiotic activity
  • This compound blocks protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit and interfering with the binding of aminoacyl-tRNA to the mRNA-ribosome complex

Applications

  • This semi-synthesized compound derived from actinomycetes can decrease the activity of the Tet repressor effector in animal models
  • In vivo experiments revealed that 4-epitetracycline hydrochloride can induce a toxic response
